Nestled on 3 acres of beautifully landscaped
grounds, this family-owned and operated motor inn has been providing
vacationers with affordable accommodations for 37 years. Bring your bike,
fishing rod, and walking shoes because just across the street is the
famous Cape Cod Canal with miles of paved trails alongside it. Friendly
owners Fred and Irene Carbone will make you feel at home in your
air-conditioned rooms, complete with fresh flowers. Popular with families,
retirees, and especially fishermen, the Bay Motor Inn offers 17 clean
units that include poolside, efficiency, and cottage units. According to
Fred, the most popular choice of guests are the Cape "Coddages,"
freestanding cottage units complete with cable TV, air-conditioning,
phones, and tiled bathrooms. You'll be close to a wide assortment of
attractions and restaurants or you can simply spend the day lounging by
the wheelchair-accessible pool, playing tennis at the nearby courts, or
just watching the boat traffic on the canal. Pets are allowed, but Fred
and Irene ask that guests do not leave dogs unattended during the day
(just down the road is veterinary service that will watch your pet for a
small fee). The Bay Motor Inn is open from April 1 to Nov. 1.

Sites and attractions from Provincetown to Boston
are within about an hour's drive of this comfortable lodging, and the
sunsets are stunning over the nearby Cape Cod Canal. Buses to and from
Logan Airport in Boston and the Woods Hole ferries to Martha's Vineyard
depart practically from the front door of the hotel.
This 43-room hotel with attractive modern rooms sits high above the
Cape Cod Canal and features an indoor heated pool, hot tub, and eight
deluxe suites with Jacuzzis and kitchenettes. Function rooms are available
for weddings and other events, and the on-site Trowbridge Tavern can chase
away any hunger or thirst. Children 16 and younger stay free in their
parents' room. It is open year-round.

One of the Upper Cape's most distinguished
facilities, the Dan'l Webster Inn offers four dining rooms--the Webster
Room, the Heritage Room, the Morgan Room and the Conservatory (see our
Restaurants chapter)-- an English-style tavern, a gift shop, and an
outdoor swimming pool, all set in the midst of the historic and beautiful
Sandwich Village. This Colonial inn is a reproduction of the original
tavern, built in 1692, that served as a parsonage and Patriot headquarters
during the Revolutionary War. It was patronized by statesman Daniel
Webster during the town's mid-19th century heyday, hence its name.
Guests have their choice of guest rooms and suites at the inn or in two
older homes, the Fessenden House on the property and the Quince Tree Inn 1
block away. Furnishings throughout are antiques or period reproductions.
Dan'l Webster Inn offers many types of accommodations ranging in style
from the formally elegant Daniel Webster Suite with a fireplace and
massive canopied bed to double-bed rooms in the Jarves Wing. All guest
rooms are individually decorated and feature private baths; some have a
Jacuzzi. Pampering includes fresh flowers, chocolates, turned-down beds,
and bottled water in the rooms. While staying here, you are within
strolling distance of Sandwich's many museums and other historic
attractions, including the Hoxie House and the Grist Mill on Shawme Pond.

Shady Nook Inn

One of the closest motels to the Shawmee Forest and
minutes away from Heritage Plantation, the immaculate Shady Nook Inn, run
by Jim and Sharon Rinaldi, showcases colorful flower beds, well-manicured
lawns, and a lovely pool area. The 30 immaculate rooms, including seven
efficiencies, offer king- and queen-size beds and doubles, cable TV, and
full baths. All rooms are also spacious and have refrigerators. You will
want to take a look at Jim's display of Coca-Cola memorabilia in the
office area. Convenient to historic Sandwich village and nearby beaches,
the Shady Nook Inn is open year-round.
Spring Hill Motor Lodge

The Cape Cod style Spring Hill Motor Lodge has
exceptionally well-maintained grounds spotted with colorful junipers. Over
the past 15 years, owners Trevor and Regina Aldhurst, have given the lodge
a resort atmosphere. Its 24 comfortable, spacious rooms are equipped with
all the modern amenities--color cable TV, direct dial telephone, coffee
makers, refrigerators, and individually controlled heat and
air-conditioning. The lodge also features a beautiful heated pool
privately nestled among the pines and surrounded by a large deck ideal for
sunning; a lighted "tournament quality" tennis court; and a
separate basketball hoop and picnic area with tables. Bright new one- and
two-bedroom contemporary cottages have recently been added. These lovely
accommodations feature custom kitchens, cathedral ceilings, French doors,
and bay windows overlooking the manicured grounds. Guests may take
advantage of the Mass. Rt. 6A antique, craft, and gift shops as well as
nearby beaches, fishing, and golfing. Spring Hill Motor Lodge is open from
April to November.
Spring Garden Motel

A place of solitude and beauty, the Spring Garden
Inn is located along a quiet section of the Old Kings Highway at the east
end of Sandwich. Set on a hillside overlooking a tranquil 2,500-acre
conservation area, the inn offers marvelous views of marsh stretching out
toward the Scorton River. Guests feel like they're experiencing the Cape
as it was when the first settlers arrived--except for the amenities.
Pine-paneled rooms with beam ceilings are comfortable and clean with
private baths, coffee makers, refrigerators, cable TVs, private phones,
and air conditioning and heat. The motel also features a two-room suite in
the original living quarters of the inn, built in the 1940's, and two
garden efficiency apartments. The efficiency studio features a queen bed,
pull-out sofa and a full-size fully equipped kitchen. The one-bedroom
efficiency apartment has a kitchenette, dining table, and leads to a
garden patio area. Families will enjoy the swimming pool and a spacious
backyard for the children. Scorton Creek is a great spot for canoeing and
fishing. Owners Stephen and Elizabeth Kauffman serve a complimentary
continental breakfast each morning. Flowerbeds accent the grounds and
window boxes are bright with red geraniums and white petunias. The motel
is open from the beginning of April to the end of November.
The Earl of Sandwich

Built in the Olde English tradition around a
tranquil duck pond in a country setting, the Earl of Sandwich surrounds
you with lush gardens. Their 24 rooms are immaculate, homey, comfortable,
and private. You'll enjoy the gracious Old English Manor style with
exposed beam ceilings. Many rooms have canopied beds, most have air
conditioning and refrigerators, and all have private baths, color cable
TV, and telephone. A warm, fresh complimentary continental breakfast is
included with your stay. In the lobby, owner Brian Clifford displays some
of his impressive handcrafted reproductions of antique brass and copper
lanterns. The Earl of Sandwich is located within a short drive from area
beaches, shopping, and the many historical sites in nearby Sandwich. Rates
are reasonable, especially during the off-season. Be sure to call ahead if
you plan on bringing the family pet. Pets are welcome but with some
restrictions.

This is Cape Cod as you've dreamed it could be.

Windsurfing instruction is also offered during the summer months.
Enjoy water-view dining in the Sea Crest's Oceanfront Dining Room, or
grab a bite at the Surf Lounge. The lobby's Piano Bar is a great place to
relax, but if you'd rather soak up some rays, try the Cabana Bar, which
has an outdoor pool (and indoor) pool. You can snack or lunch there too.
In addition, you can enjoy the resort's exercise room, game room,
whirlpool, sauna, and its two all-weather tennis courts. If you're
bringing the kids, you'll be happy to know that during July and August,
the day camp staff holds activities for children.
Many of the 266 rooms here have been recently renovated; some have
water views and balconies; all rooms come with double or king-size beds,
irons and ironing boards, cable TV, telephones with data ports, and hair
dryers. Available space is sometimes limited by conferences. Guests may
wish to take advantage of special programs that include meals in the cost
of their stay. The resort has 14 conference rooms for those who have to
work for a living. For those who can tear themselves away from the
meetings and the gorgeous beachfront, Falmouth's downtown and harbor are
about a 10- to 15-minute drive away. Sea Crest is a year-round facility.
Nautilus Motor Inn

This motor inn rests atop a hill overlooking Woods
Hole Harbor where ferries and oceanographic research vessels motor in and
out. The views here are spectacular (yes, that's Martha's Vineyard you see
across the water). Situated close to Falmouth and the village of Woods
Hole, which has great restaurants and marine-science attractions, this
54-room facility has a nice outdoor pool, a spacious sundeck, and tennis
courts. All rooms have balconies or patios, some with lovely views of
Vineyard Sound. The geodesic Dome Restaurant and Lounge (see our
Restaurants chapter) is on the grounds. Your morning coffee at the
Nautilus is complimentary. The inn is open from April through October.
The Admiralty Inn

The Admiralty Inn of Falmouth has it all--an

beaches of Falmouth and the various island ferries that leave from
Falmouth Harbor and Woods Hole. Open year-round, the Admiralty has 98

The views you'll have of Falmouth Harbor are
outstanding. From your room you can watch sailboats making their way in
and out of the busy harbor and the big, white Island Queen ferry
pulling away from her slip bound for Martha's Vineyard. Harbor views, a
swimming pool with a special quiet area, and proximity to restaurants and
attractions all make this large facility a popular one with visitors to
the grand ol' town of Falmouth. From its 63 rooms, choose a double room or
suite with a living room, kitchen, bedroom and bath. Rooms are spacious
and comfortable and have coffee makers, refrigerators, and wet bars. The
facility is open mid-April through October. During the off-season in
September and October, room rates are about half those you'd pay in

Falmouth Inn

One of Falmouth's larger hotels, the Falmouth Inn
is a single-floor facility catering to those who seek value as well as
convenience. Located in the center of Falmouth on Main Street, The
Falmouth Inn offers 123 spacious rooms that include color TV with free
HBO, direct dial telephone, year-round temperature control, indoor
corridors, game room, and an outdoor courtyard. The retractable roof of
the heated indoor-outdoor pool is really unique for Cape Cod. You may
enjoy the soothing pleasures of a sauna. On-site is a restaurant and cozy
lounge. Falmouth Inn is near all of Falmouth's marvelous assets, including
Main Street shops and restaurants, beaches, Falmouth Harbor and the Island
Queen ferry. In the fall and spring the hotel offers rates that are
nearly half that of summer rates as well as special-rate packages that
include two meals. The inn is open year-round and welcomes pets. There is
no charge for children under 18.
Ramada on the Square

In a town with so many long-established
accommodations, this relative newcomer has a lot to offer, including an
indoor heated pool and a dining room and lounge area (Captain Scott's,
which is open to the public). The dining room is open for breakfast,
lunch, and dinner. This Ramada is close to the Bonanza Bus Line terminal
and the Shining Sea Bikepath, as well as the many shops, museums, and
restaurants of Falmouth. A nice plus is van transport to local beaches and
to the island ferries at Falmouth Harbor and Woods Hole. The
wheelchair-accessible inn has 72 attractive rooms and suites. Most rooms
have double beds and some of the suites have Jacuzzis. Housed in two
buildings, the Ramada on the Square is open year-round.

In a classic New England setting along Shore Street

Inn. At one end of the street and only a few minutes walk away is the
picture-perfect Surf Drive town beach where you can look out across
Vineyard Sound to Martha's Vineyard. The street's other end empties onto
Main Street where you will find, well, everything. The accommodations at
Shore Way Acres are as unique and varied as Cape Cod itself. If you enjoy
the cozy comfort of a country inn, you'll feel very much at home in one of
the fully restored 18th century Sea Captain's houses with their
traditional furnishings and yesteryear charm. If you appreciate the style
of a conventional hotel, you're sure to feel pampered in a tastefully
appointed room in one of the contemporary buildings. Whatever your
preference, traditional or contemporary, all guest rooms include private
bath, telephone, cable TV, and individual air conditioning and heat
control. Many rooms offer special features such as a full kitchen,
decorative fireplace, coffee maker, refrigerator, sitting area, balcony,
and private terrace. There's a lot here to keep you busy. Besides a sauna,
an outdoor and an indoor pool (enclosed with large windows overlooking the
beautiful grounds), there are also badminton, croquet, and volleyball
courts; lawn swings; Victorian gazebo; umbrella tables; and barbecue
grills on-site. Nearby you'll also find tennis courts, golf courses,
horseback riding, fishing, and bike-riding facilities. You can get
discounted ferry tickets in the lobby, and the desk staff will help you
make arrangements for group activities. Excellent value packages for
weekends, honeymoons, and reunions are offered at the Shoreway Acres with
meals provided. The inn is open year-round.
Green Harbor Waterfront Motor

If you like to be close to the water, you'll like
Green Harbor's beachfront accommodations. This East Falmouth fixture rests
on the Green Pond inlet, which eventually empties into Vineyard Sound and
is perfect for kayaking or canoeing. Green Harbor has 40 pleasantly
appointed units. Each waterfront guest room offers one queen and one
double bed, a private full bath, cable TV, telephone, microwave,
refrigerator, and individually controlled heat and air conditioning.
Waterfront vacation cottages, more like small homes, feature three
bedrooms, working fireplace, full kitchen, and yes, three televisions. In
all, about half of the accommodations feature a full kitchen. The
family-run facility, which caters to mostly families, has an outdoor pool
as well as a one-foot-deep kiddie pool. There are docking facilities
available for your use if you plan to arrive on your own boat. Other
on-site amenities include volleyball and shuffleboard courts, charcoal
grills and a boating beach. Rowboats and paddleboats are also available
for guest use. The lodge is open from May to November. Green Harbor allows
pets as long as they are not left unattended in the room.

Established in 1962, this exclusive oceanfront
resort with 3 miles of beach frontage is one of the premier resorts on
Cape Cod. More than 100 one bedroom/one bath or two bedroom/two bath condo
villas are available, some offering fantastic ocean views. New Seabury is
an adults' playground with two great golf courses, one of which is one of
the best in New England, two outdoor pools, numerous tennis courts, bike
and hiking trails, a restaurant, a lounge, and an on-site marketplace with
paths of crushed clam shells. There are also programs for the children.
Open from March to the end of October, New Seabury offers one
wheelchair-accessible unit.
